"He said said he witnessed..." misprints the article. Sometimes a typo says it all.

I know the Telegraph picked this up from some other sources.The incident took place a number of years ago . . or at least was said to have - is that your point?
No, no. It's just that the alliteration is amusing in the context of UFO sighting because "he said he witnessed" is already once removed from "he witnessed" (which is the real question) and the "said said" makes it even more so.
JD: I'm not a proofreader (I've enough trouble with my own typos) but if I get an "Edge of war" bound galley I'll do my best.
